(ESL)-Part-Time Winter 2021 Academic Communication (3/2-4/8)


You will be expected to communicate in many different modes in college and your professional life. You will participate in one-on-one and discussion groups, and engage with project teams. Learn language and communication techniques in the context of your real-world situations. You will also learn note-taking, summarizing, outlining, and “word cloud” idea organization techniques that will support your academic and professional lives.   

Local students and short-term visitors may take as few or as many courses as they would like up to 16 hours per week. Academic advisement is available upon request. Note: those wishing to be considered for “conditional admission” to Monroe, must enroll in full-time courses. 

Optional 12-hour Assignment: This will be a 3-page research and writing assignment that will be discussed by your professor when classes start. This cannot be taken alone. It must be taken in conjunction with the main course.

Program Dates: 1/11-3/31, 2021

Hours/ week: 4 hours per week over 6 weeks – a total of 24 hours or 36hrs with the optional assignment.

Format: This hybrid course will meet mostly online and partly asynchronously. 85% synchronous course attendance required.

Important! All live sessions meet according to Eastern Standard Time (EST) or New York Time. 

Day: Tuesday/Thursday

time: 11:15 am – 1:15 pm 

Course format: This hybrid course is delivered in at which includes live class sessions on Zoom and independent coursework with teacher support. 85% attendance of live sessions required for a passing grade in each course. 

 Costs Tuition: $ 200 for 24 hours or 36 hours with the optional assignment.
